THE LAUNCH

Soon after the decision was made to create the Fuel Their Fire Scholarship, our inaugural Fundraiser was held on May 28, 2018 (Memorial Day) at The COVE Restaurant on S. George St. in York.  Food and drink specials, a Silent Auction, Merchandise sales, and the kickoff of our Raffle for a Fire Fighter Edition Harley Davidson motorcycle, proved more successful than any of us had imagined.  The turnout and support from the community was nothing short of amazing.  The scholarship fund was officially up and running!  Of course this event would never have been possible without the support of many local businesses that generously donated their products and services... the countless volunteers who donated their time and energy... and The COVE which donated the use of its restaurant and staff.  A heartfelt "Thank You" goes out to all who helped, and continue to help, make this scholarship possible.

STETLER DODGE OFFROAD EVENT RAISES MONEY FOR FUEL THEIR FIRE

Stetler Dodge of York approached the York City Fire department about teaming up to build a special edition Jeep as well as to help raise money at their annual offroad expo.  We are excited to announce that Stetler Dodge presented us with a generous donation of over $4, 900 at the beginning of September.  We can't thank the fine folks at Stetler enough for thinking of our scholarship and "keeping it local" by giving back to a cause so close to the heart of the York City Fire Department and the York City community.  Pictured below is Chief Chad Deardorff receiving the check from the Stetler Team.

York Suburban Middle School Students Organize Fundraiser

Middle school student Kirra Hyder (pictured next to me), who happens to be the daughter of York City Fire Fighter Brandon Hyder, contacted me in mid-November to let me know that she and some of her classmates had organized a fundraiser at their school.  I found out through her teacher that this was no easy task and required a lot of organization/planning as well as obtaining proper permission from the school.  I also discovered that it would only happen if "everyone was onboard" which required Kirra and her friends to lobby their cause to the rest of the school.  I know how energetic and passionate Kirra can be so it was no surprise for me to hear that she pulled this off.  In the end they raised an impressive $635.92 for our scholarship.  Everyone involved in this should be very proud of their efforts and realize that their contribution will go a long way in helping a deserving student benefit from one of our scholarships.  Well Done!
